With a recent report rating their customer approval rating dead last, Spirit Airlines is making a change that should garner them some positive goodwill.

The airline is the latest to do away with fees for changing of canceling flights.

The policy change took effect Friday and was announced by the company’s website, which read, “Cancel feels are canceled for everyone” and “Change fees are gone for all.”

Prior to Friday, ticket changes at Spirit would cost between $69 and $119, with the price dependent on the proximity to the departure that the change was made, according to Simple Flying.

Changes made within 24 hours of booking or 60 days out from departure were free, but now the fees for closer changes have also been eliminated.

“Spirit has been evaluating changes to our product and strategy that will help us better compete, elevate the guest experience and return to profitability,” the airline said in a statement emailed to USA TODAY. “This new policy is among the best in the industry because it applies to each and every guest. We have many other enhancements in the works and look forward to sharing more soon.”

Spirit is looking to rebound from a reported loss in the first quarter of 2024.
