A Texas man allegedly admitted to murdering and mutilating his wife, whom he married in October 2022, according to a press release from local authorities.
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office shared that Jared James Dicus admitted to the killing and mutilation of his new wife. Court records show that he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday.
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office shared that deputies responded to a call of a potential death at a southeast Texas home at 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
When they arrived, they found the body of a woman inside a “small residential structure” located behind the home, the press release said.
The sheriff’s office shared that the body located by deputies had been mutilated. KPRC 2 reported that portions of the body had been dismembered, and the home was covered in blood.
Waller County Judge Trey Duhon and the victim’s family identified her as 21-year-old Anggy Diaz. Judge Duhon shared on Facebook that he recalled marrying the couple last year.
“During my short time with them, they were a very nice young couple,” Duhon wrote. “As with many of you, I’m greatly saddened and shocked by the news of this tragic event and my prayers are with all of their families.”
After his arrest, Dicus allegedly confessed to authorities that he murdered his wife, Diaz. He is being held on a $500,000 bond, court records show.
The murder is being investigated by the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office.
