A man who hit baseballs into the one of America's treasured natural landmarks is under investigation after tipsters helped authorities locate him.
The search lit up social media after park officials posted to social media on Wednesday looking for the unidentified suspect, seen in a widely-circulated photo smacking a baseball off a tee at the Grand Canyon's South Rim.

The initial post – almost amusingly – read: "Can you help U.S. Park Rangers of Grand Canyon National Park find this individual responsible for hitting baseballs into Grand Canyon?"

The incident happened last Sunday near the Yavapai Geology Museum at about 3:45 p.m., officials said.
In an updated Facebook post, authorities later announced: "Park personnel are in contact with the involved individual. Though no further details are available at this time, we sincerely thank all who submitted tips."
It wasn't immediately clear if the man would face charges.
