While covering the aftermath of Hurricane Ida in Gulfport, Miss., MSNBC correspondent Shaquille Brewster had his live report interrupted by an unidentified man who shouted obscenities at him

Brewster was reporting on the curfews in place in the storm’s aftermath when a white pickup truck could be seen pulling over on the side of the road behind him. A man emerged from the truck and sprinted toward the reporter and his cameraman, shouting at the two and demanding they “cover this accurately!”

Brewster moved to keep the man out of the camera’s shot, saying, “We deal with some people every once in a while.”

As the man continued to rant, Brewster sent the feed back to the studio, saying, “I’m gonna toss it back to you because we have a person who needs a little help right now.” The feed cut away just as the interloper charged at Brewster shouting obscenities.

MSNBC President Rashida Jones released a statement Monday calling Brewster “an exceptional journalist” and praising how he handled the situation.
