“Where are you? When are you coming to the ‘Center of the Universe,’ Mar-a-Lago,” said President-elect Donald Trump in a Friday Truth Social post. “Bill Gates asked to come, tonight. We miss you and x! New Year’s Eve is going to be AMAZING!!!”
The message left some confused and the New York Post called it a “cryptic” communication.
CNN reported that it seemed to be intended as a private message to tech mogul and Trump ally Elon Musk, who recently was embroiled this week with other Trump supporters in an online debate about immigration. According to the outlet, “x” refers to Musk’s son with musician Grimes, X Æ A-Xii.
As for the rest of the message, it indicates that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates asked to visit Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla.
Shortly after Trump won the 2024 presidential election in November, Gates posted this on X, a site Musk owns: “Congratulations to President Trump and VP-elect Vance. America is at its strongest when we use ingenuity and innovation to improve lives here in the U.S. and around the world. I hope we can work together now to build a brighter future for everyone.”
Additionally, CNN said that Gates has reached out to the Trump transition about a possible meeting with the president-elect, citing “a person familiar with the talks.” Per the outlet, it is unclear when the two men might meet.
“CNN has reached out to Gates for comment,” said the report.
Regarding New Year’s Eve, Trump is known to host parties for the holiday at Mar-a-Lago. Last January, the Palm Beach Post reported that Vanilla Ice helped attendees at the private club to ring in the New Year. Musk has celebrated holidays with Trump before – Audacy reported on the two men dancing to “Y.M.C.A.” this Thanksgiving.
