The couple, both 25 years old, were in Kansas City when the woman ran over a bowling ball on Saturday around 3 p.m., police told the Kansas City Star. The husband got out of the car to remove the ball and the woman stayed in the driver's seat.

While sitting near East 31st Street and Montgall Avenue, a suspect approached the vehicle and reached inside to grab the woman's purse. There was a struggle and she pressed her foot on the gas, police say.

Her husband was still underneath the car and she rolled over him. After hearing him yell, the woman then put the vehicle in reverse and rolled back over him, police say.

She called police and said the suspect ran away after her husband started yelling. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition, but was in stable condition as of Sunday, according to the Star.

On Saturday, a man later turned himself into police and stated that he threw a bowling ball in front of a moving vehicle in the same area of the incident.
