New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell today announced that the city will enter what she is calling Phase 3.1 this weekend. She said the mask mandate continues.
What changes?
The mayor says if benchmarks are met and there are not COVID spikes, the city will move to the next phases.
· Phase 3.2 can begin as early as Oct 16th
· Phase 3.3 can begin as early as Oct 31st
Cantrell also announced that Halloween will move forward with new guidelines.
"We are not canceling Halloween," the mayor insisted.
She said more information on the rules will be coming soon.
Cantrell did say that trick-or-treating will start earlier to allow more social distancing and the guidelines will included social distancing and mask wearing.
The mayor says there can also be haunted houses with State Fire Marshal approval and following established guidelines.
