DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys addressed the pass rush on Wednesday, reaching an agreement with defensive end Aldon Smith on a one-year deal.

April 2, 2020 A bit of a reclamtion project, but with a heap of talent, Smith comes to the Cowboys with a second chance at an NFL career after spending the last four years sidelined due to various disciplinary issues.
Smith last played in 2015 for Oakland, where he had 3.5 sacks in nine games, as well as 28 total tackles and eight quarterback hits.
After being drafted seventh overall in the 2011 draft out of Missouri by the San Francisco 49ers, Smith was an All-Pro in 2012, finishing with 66 total tackles, 19.5 sacks, 18 tackles for loss and 29 quarterback hits.
From 2011-2013, he had 42.5 sacks and 74 total quarterback hits.
Per a report from ESPN's Ed Werder, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has yet to fully re-instate Smith, leaving his immediate future undecided as of yet.
A league source said that Commissioner Roger Goodell is yet to determine Aldon Smith’s eligibility to return to play in the #NFL, and that his unresolved status is the same as that of #Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory in terms of the reinstatement process.

April 2, 2020 If Smith were to be cleared by Goodell, and he were to get back to a semblence of his old form, he would address a big need for the Cowboys heading into next season.
