Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said last week that he doesn't want to trade Minor but couldn't rule anything out with two weeks to go until the trade deadline, TR Sullivan of mlb.com reported.
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News added that Daniels said it "probably doesn't make sense" to trade Minor, but he didn't rule out considering offers if they came in.
Per Sullivan, Daniels said if the club were to remain in contention then they'd need to address their pitching depth.
The decision whether to part with Minor, who will enter the final year of his contract next season, has been a major talking point to this point in the season. With Minor pitching like a front-of-the-line starter and Texas hanging in there in the American League wild-card race, it was believed that Daniels would have a hard time selling the club on trading its best pitcher.
On the other hand, the Rangers have lost three games in a row and are now four games behind the Cleveland Indians and Oakland A's.
Should Minor be available as Morosi is reporting, he'd arguably be the best pitcher available on the trade market and has a very affordable year of control in 2020 ($9.5 mil). One front office executive with another organization who spoke to 105.3 The Fan's Ben Rogers, said that the Rangers could get a big haul for the 31-year-old.
Minor was selected to his first All-Star game this season after going 8-4 with a 2.54 ERA in the first half. He struggled in his last two starts, allowing seven earned runs in 9 1/3 innings pitched.
