New Orleans Police say a man stabbed his father death and wounded his mother Thanksgiving morning in the Ninth Ward.
"The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today inside of a home in the 1500 block of Tricou Street," a news release detailed.
He says it happened around 8:00am.
"Officers were responding to the location for a medical call. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims, a husband and wife, suffering from multiple stab wounds, and another victim, their son, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds."
The 82-year old father was pronounced dead at the scene. The 51-year-old mother was transported to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
"Their son, DeFranklin Reynolds (31 years old), was also transported to the hospital, were he later died of his injuries."
Cops say the initial investigation has revealed that Reynolds stabbed his parents, before another relative shot him in their defense.
"The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available for release at this time."
