The scene could have been much worse on Tuesday, July 6, at the Rouses Market at the intersection of Royal and St. Peter Streets in the French Quarter.
An unidentified person intentionally set a fire in the grocery store, lighting up a shelf of paper towels. Fortunately another quick-thinking customer put the flames out with a nearby jug of water, and no injuries were reported.
Now the State Fire Marshal’s Office is seeking a person of interest tied to the incident.
