NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Washington is busily preparing for President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on Wednesday: armed National Guard troops are flooding the city, workers are surrounding the U.S. Capitol with razor wire and communications towers are being set up.

On the lighter side, though, shops are stocked with inaugural souvenirs, buildings are adorned with banners congratulating Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and their supporters are happily walking around the nation's capital in attire that professes their support for the duo.

These photos were taken Thursday, and illustrate the city's preparations.
