Analyst: Kennedy "intellectually dishonest" for saying Supreme Court under assault

Days after Sen. John Kennedy (R-Louisiana) accused a federal judge of taking part in an "assault" on the United States Supreme Court, a New Orleans political analyst is calling "bull" on Kennedy's comments.

On Wednesday, Sen. Kennedy defended Justice Clarence Thomas against accusations of ethics violations, attacking the credibility of Judge Mark Wolf, a witness who was scheduled to testify before a Senate committee about allegations against Thomas dating back to 2011.

"The assault comes in waves," Kennedy said, comparing Wolf's claims to the sexual assault allegations levied against Brett Kavanaugh before he was confirmed to the Supreme Court.

"Kennedy's a phony for saying that," Dubos said. "He's intellectually dishonest for saying that."

DuBos says because Kennedy is a lawyer by trade, he knows that any evidence of a donor influencing a judge--especially a Supreme Court justice--undermines people's faith in the justice system and the United States government.

"It is not an assault on the Supreme Court," DuBos said. "It is holding someone accountable who needs to be held accountable."

DuBos said Kennedy would be demanding action if a liberal justice were facing the same accusations.

"If this were an appointee of President Clinton or President Obama who were doing this, if this were a liberal justice doing this, Republicans would be screaming for impeachment," DuBos said.

DuBos added that it's time for Congress to put aside political difference to protect the Constitution and the republic.

"It's not an assault on the Supreme Court," DuBos repeated. "What Clarence Thomas has done is an attack and an assault on the Supreme Court."
