United States Senator John Kennedy closed out 2023 by launching one final verbal zinger towards President Joe Biden.

Sen. Kennedy (R-Madisonville) launched his barb during a recent appearance on the Fox News Channel. The senior senator from Louisiana joined FNC host and former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany to discuss the Department of Justice possibly suing Texas over that state's new immigration law allowing police to arrest people suspect of illegally entering the United States. However, Kennedy opened his remarks by discussing Biden's popularity marks and taking potshots at the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate and the Baton Rouge Advocate.

"Last Saturday, President Biden blamed the media for his unpopularity," Kennedy said. "The truth is most members of the media have tried to help him. In my state, for example, the two largest newspapers are run by members of the loon-wing of the Democratic Party, and the publish accordingly. But in Louisiana, President Biden is as popular as herpes."

Kennedy continued by explaining why he believes Biden is unpopular in Louisiana.

"Two reasons: (1) the people of Louisiana are not stupid. (2) They think the Biden Administration is. They think that it's stupidity (that) runs from the river to the sea. Exhibit A is the southern border."

According to a poll conducted in August by Faucheux Strategies, Biden's approval rating in Louisiana is 36 percent. His disapproval rate, according to that survey, is 58 percent.

Data from the Louisiana Department of Health about herpes rates in Louisiana are not readily available. However, stdcheck.com says a 2021 study found that New Orleans has the highest prevalence rate of genital herpes among all United States cities. That rate, according to the survey, was 20.4 percent--30 percent higher than the national average. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Louisiana has the second-highest rate of sexually transmitted diseases in the U. S., behind only Mississippi.
