AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Matthew McConaughey is apparently seriously weighing a gubernatorial run in Texas next year.
The 51-year old Academy Award winner and Austinite, speaking on an episode of Crime Stoppers of Houston's "The Balanced Voice" podcast Wednesday, said making a run at the state's top elected office was "a true consideration" after host and CEO Rania Mankarious brought up the possibility.
McConaughey, whose motivational memoir "Greenlights" was just released,
Last November, McConaughey discussed the possibility of a run on The Hugh Hewitt Show, saying the current state of politics needed a fix. "Look, politics seems to be a broken business to me right now," McConaughey said. "And when politics redefines its purpose, I could be a hell of a lot more interested."
Speaking to the policies he wishes both Democrats and Republicans could rally behind, McConaughey said he's interested in getting "behind personal values to rebind our social contracts with each other as Americans, as people again."
