The clock is ticking after a voter seeking to oust St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Christopher Tape filed a recall petition today.
Organizers now have 180 days to gather nearly 40,000 signatures to force a recall election.
Tape was elected last year without opposition, then news of child sex abuse charges in New Mexico two decades ago came to light.
Those charges were eventually dismissed because prosecutors took too long to bring the case to trial.
