The crisis at the United States’ southern border has inspired both the right and the left to put forward a range of inaccuracies to support their views. It’s sad but it’s a reality - both sides are using the human crisis at the border as a political pawn in their fight to demonize the other side.
Republicans are spreading the idea that Democrats want completely open borders to bring in more Democrat voters, but illegal immigrants don't vote. Democrats hope to appear less strict on border issues in order to appease the liberal voters who want America to welcome all those fleeing political and economic oppression.
Both Democrats and Republicans benefit from the manual labor provided by illegal immigration in construction and agriculture.
No matter how convincing Republicans appear to be when it comes to their party’s ability to solve the border crisis, in actuality they seem to have no interest in solving a problem that offers such a rich political target and cudgel with which to beat Democrats.
Neither party shows a true interest in solving the border crisis - and the proof of that lies in the lack of agreeing to work together to solve the problem.
