Hundreds of Trump supporters from Long Island gathered in front of Trump Tower on Sunday morning to show their support for the president, who is hospitalized with COVID-19.
More than 100 trucks, SUVs and other vehicles blocked Fifth Avenue for blocks starting at Trump Tower.
They chanted “four more years” and prayed for the president’s recovery.
“The Long Island loud majority have taken over New York City,” a man named Jay said. “These are our streets. We’re taking New York City back. We’re taking New York state back. We’re flipping it red.”
Despite standing close together and shouting slogans, few of the supporters wore masks, including Sean from West Babylon.

“I feel like we’re outside,” he said. “We heard that when folks were protesting back in June, when COVID was at its peak. They were outside.”
Leaders had organized the rally before the president was diagnosed with COVID-19 late last week. He remains at Walter Reed Medical Center.
The rally on Fifth Avenue came a day after hundreds of supporters gathered on Staten Island on Saturday.
