New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says she's "hopeful" it will be safe to fill the Superdome to capacity when football season begins, The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports.

Only a few thousand fans at most were able to attend games during the 2020 season. Plans to increase attendance to as much as 15,000 for home games in December never materialized amid rising coronavirus cases in the winter.


With 27 percent of the city already fully inoculated against COVID-19, Cantrell said she believes they city can reach 75 percent by football season.
