Scoot: Are Democrats trying to "**** up" every city in America?

While appearing on Rob Lowe's podcast - "Literally!" - Arnold Schwarzenegger told Lowe that Democrats are "ruining" America's cities and that Democrats "want to F-up every city in America."  When Lowe asked Schwarzenegger "Why is that?" - Schwarzenegger responded "I have no idea."

This argument that cities run by Democrats have more crime and more problems has been a common argument over the past few years. There are cities led by Republican mayors that have significant crime problems - Jacksonville, FL - Miami, FL - Oklahoma City, OK - Ft. Worth, TX - Colorado Springs, CO - Fresno, CA - and Tulsa, OK are among those cities. But there is something about the cities - many of them big cities, like New York City - that are led by Democrats and lends credibility to the idea that liberal ideology does contribute to crime.

New Orleans, LA is a perfect example of a city that has been led by Democrat mayors that has problems that are the manifestation of liberal ideology. Mayor Benjamin Flanders was the last Republican mayor of the city of New Orleans, and Mayor Flanders left office in 1872.

How does liberal ideology contribute to urban problems?  New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and her predecessor Mayor Mitch Landrieu both showed extraordinary empathy for criminals.  As Democrats - Cantrell and Landrieu based their empathy for criminals - especially young criminals - on what turned these people to a life of crime and the unspoken impression is that there was more understanding for the criminal than the victim of the crime.

It is true that there are things in society that invite young people to commit crimes - but if parents and communities fail to do their job of properly raising children - then society is left with the task of punishing the criminals for their behavior.

Mayor Cantrell drew widespread criticism from both the Black and the White communities for sitting in court next to a young criminal while the victims sat across the courtroom.

Education is available for everyone - jobs are plentiful everywhere - but neither education or jobs are beneficial to those who have been taught that crime is a better option.

The other problem is with the judges and the district attorney's office.  Too often violent criminals are arrested and immediately released back on the street to commit more crimes.  The threshold for serious bail is too low and criminals know that if they commit a crime in New Orleans - chances are they will be released immediately and never face punishment for their crimes.

Understanding the forces at play when it comes to crime is reputable - but at some point the message should be clear - if you commit a crime you will be punished.

Democrats - in general - are more likely to support the excuses as to why someone committed a crime.  Republicans are more likely to set strict punishment for crimes committed.

New Orleans is led by Democrats - neighboring Jefferson Parish is led by Republicans.  It is a statistical fact that criminals appear to prefer to commit their crimes in New Orleans and not Jefferson Parish.
