The daily news feeds seem more like Hollywood scripts about the fall of a great nation than actual news about a great nation. Here are a few of the news stories from yesterday:
• A call for the President to declare a form of martial law and temporarily suspend the Constitution and to have the military take control from civilians to oversee a national re-vote.
• A pro-president attorney acting like a passionate televangelist, telling the crowd at a rally to physically surround the governor’s mansion and demand that he call a special session of the legislature for the purpose of appointing electors that would deny the votes of the citizens in favor of the recently defeated sitting president.
• An unhinged witness presented by another pro-president attorney yelling at legislators that the election was rigged after a judge dismissed her court testimony as “simply not credible.”
• And a president refusing to accept his defeat with some supporters insisting that the president refuse to physically leave the White House.
The names of the president, his attorneys, and the country were purposely left out to emphasize that the greatness of the United States of America seems to have been reduced to that of a Third World country attempting to usher in a dictatorship.
We are currently on the threshold of political insanity, and the worse the case for overturning the results of the election gets - the crazier the tactics to circumvent the free will of the people. We have seen this played out in history, and the free citizens become the victims of a tragedy.
The sane citizens of America can no longer afford to remain taciturn in the face of what is shaping up to be a battle between good and evil. Even the suggestion of any aspect of martial law and demands to overstep the legal workings of even members of the same party as the president should send a chill up the spine of every law-abiding American citizen.
