OPINION: Scoot: Republicans finally get it - MAGA is coming for them, too

The call is coming from inside the House

Right-wing radicals are attempting to take over and define the Republican Party in their image. I have been warning about this for at least the last two years - and finally the right-wing radicals have been exposed. The personal vendetta launched against House Speaker Kevin McCarthy led by Rep. Matt Gaetz shined the spotlight on this group of conservatives that are crusading to re-make the Republican brand.

After the shocking ouster ofMcCarthy by the Gaetz-led gang, a number of listeners suddenly wanted me to define what a right-wing radical is. I find that interesting since I have been talking about this consistently and warning about this renegade wing of the Republican Party that believe they are the only true conservatives on Capitol Hill.

The fact that there was instant attention to right-wing radicals is a sure sign that they are real and their impact on the Republican Party may prove to be dangerous.

Those seeking a definition to right-wing radicals were not interested in an honest definition - they were interested in a vicarious defense of the group by suggesting there is no definition of right-wing radicals.

McCarthy said the group led by Gaetz are not conservatives.  Former speaker Newt Gingrich called the group "anti-Republican" and "actively destructive."  Republican Rep. Chip Roy said the MAGA camp, the right-wing radicals who call him a RINO "can kiss my ass."

Former Republican Rep. Barbara Comstock said the MAGA Republicans are a destructive force within the Party.  Former Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera had previously said, "Sad state of the nation when the House Speaker's job is threatened by a douche like Matt Gaetz."

Republican Rep. Anthony D'Esposito said that Matt Gaetz had pulled off "one the the greatest acts of heresy that I've seen in a while."

McCarthy’s ouster at the hands of this small group of right-wing radical Republicans has brought to light the point I have been making about this faction of the Republican Party for a long time.  And the fact that countless Republicans are standing up to bash the radicals may be the first sign that more centrist, pragmatic conservatives face a real threat from MAGA Trump supporters who want to take over the party and burn everything down.

This new recognition of the right-wing radicals by many well-respected Republicans may inspire more Republican voters to realize that there are alternatives to Donald Trump and that supporting "everything Trump" is not the definition of true conservatives or Republicans.
