Scoot: Is Biden really to blame for the "bad" economy?

Is a business in the French Quarter of New Orleans suffering because of President Biden and Bidenomics? That's what a caller to my talk show on said Wednesday afternoon. The caller told a passionate story about how two of his employees asked for a raise because of the price of groceries and other expenses and he told them he couldn't give them raises and directly blamed President Biden.

Was the caller right?  Is Biden to blame for businesses that can't afford to give their employees a raise?

Since other callers have blamed Biden for the "bad economy" I wanted to talk to someone who might be able to give us an answer.

Jason Brooke is the Money Reporter for KCBS and the CBS Radio Network and Jason enlightened us about the "bad economy."

First of all - is the economy "bad" as so many Americans insist?  According to Brooke - the economy is not "bad" overall.  Of course - during any economic trend - some Americans will experience economic problems that may or may not be the fault of the current administration.

The caller who owned a business in the French Quarter said that business was not good because people don't want to go to the Quarter.  I was quick to point out that the crime problem in New Orleans has gotten so bad that a lot of locals are afraid to go downtown.  That's a local problem that can be blamed on the city - not President Biden.

I am not trying to defend President Biden, I am trying to defend the truth.  It is a common tradition to blame the president in office if the president represents the party you oppose - but that doesn't mean the president is the major reason some are suffering from a bad economy.

I constantly hear from conservative callers that "gas prices are up because Biden closed the pipeline."  That is nothing more than convenient rhetoric.

Jason Brooke did an excellent job of discussing the truth about the economy, but it is a truth that does not fit the agenda of those Americans who seek to blame everything on Biden. In many ways the American economy is healthy but that doesn't mean that every business will be thriving.

The challenge for Americans is to look for and accept the truth even if it contradicts what they want to believe is true.
