Many people believe that Disney - the family-friendly, pure, upright company that gave us Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Bambi - is secretly promoting Satan and sexuality to our children.
Remember the great controversy over some of the background items in the sea in “The Little Mermaid” and the penis in the movie poster? A close look at those images do show what could be a penis - but so what? Without the direction of adults pointing out the figures - no child is going to freak out or become sexually active.
We can all speculate as to why some people are so quick to see phallic symbols everywhere.
Disney has been accused of promoting Satan worshipping over the years.
Ultra right-wing radical Charlie Kirk is condemning the upcoming adult cartoon - “Praise Petey” - as he claims it is promoting Satan. The new cartoon will air on Freeform and Hulu - companies owned by Disney - at 9:00pm Central Time. “Praise Petey” is the story of a girl who inherits her father’s cult in the town of “New Utopia.” She immediately makes changes including eliminating all human sacrifices.
Some right-wing radicals are freaking out and condemning the movie for its references to Satan. I haven’t seen the cartoon - but let’s remember it is an “adult” cartoon and it airs at 9:00pm Central Time. It’s not for children.
All animation is not for kids. In 1960 - “The Flintstones” debuted as a cartoon that was made for adults, not kids. There have been countless movies about Satan - like “Rosemary’s Baby,” and these movies were not for children. Satan is scary AF and makes a good subject for entertainment viewed by adults.
So even if “Praise Petey” were about Satan - so what? But it seems the show is not about Satan which again raises the question about why so many people are literally looking for sexual or evil images in entertainment.
Maybe Disney has become an easy target because its original mission was so pristine - but Disney has a right to expand as a company and create entertainment that is for adults - and not kids.
Let kids be kids - but let’s also let adults be adults. Charlie Kirk’s condemnation of “Praise Petey” might be more Disney-bashing to appease the far right than a legitimate warning of real evil.
