During Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, I mentioned that she is so on top of the world that it will be interesting to see what she does after the pinnacle moment in her career. Today, Taylor Swift released her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” an album written during her intensive Eras Tour. She actually did some of the recording during the tour proving that she is a dedicated workaholic with a unique passion for her work.

Swift is known for writing personal songs about her exes, who are part of the life she shares through her lyrics.  “The Life of a Showgirl” is a big step in Swift’s writing as she opens up about her sensuality and even her primal sexuality.  In the song, “Wood,” Swift is singing about her fiance Travis Kelce, and his manhood and how much he pleasures her.

In addition to lyrics that are more adult-oriented, Swift reminds us that she is a healthy 35-yr-old woman who enjoys sex.  Along with lyrics that could have come from a romance novel, Swift has also released a series of pictures that show her in sensuous poses wearing risque attire.  In one picture, Taylor Swift is sitting on a moveable food cart with a white table cloth with a plate of food that has been nibbed on and a glass of wine or champagne.  She is wearing a gold printed top that comes down to her waist and appears to not be wearing underwear, but one of her legs is stretched out and her black stiletto high heel shoe is placed up high on the wall.  With arms crossed over her head, her look is one of invitation to sensuous - maybe rowdy - sex.

There is no doubt that Taylor Swift is flaunting her confidence and the reality that she answers to no one but herself.  To her credit, Swift has produced an album with cleaner lyrics to the songs that may be a bit too adult for her preteen fans.

For artists to maintain popular status, they must change with their audience.  Taylor Swift’s fans are maturing and she is meeting them at their newfound maturity.

The music on the album is catchy with strong hooks and for anyone who lists pop music as their fav genre, “The Life of a Showgirl” delivers the goods.  But pay attention to the lyrics.  Taylor Swift continues to be a poet on the level of a Bob Dylan.  Her lyrics may not be addressing the social issues that Dylan addressed, but she is an accomplished poet and her new album will be a surprising step up from her music that reflected the mentality of a young female that dates and breaks up and suffers heartache.  “The Life of a Showgirl” is an album that tells us Taylor Swift is a confident and sexual woman.
