Scoot: Who is to blame for second attempt on Trump?

Communist left rhetoric from Kamala Harris is causing bullets to fly and it’s going to get worse because we are reaching a new level of hatred in America. That is what former President Donald Trump is saying after a second alleged assassination attempt at his golf course near Mar-A-Lago.

Following the arrest of a man who appeared to be in a position to kill Trump, the former president said on his Truth Social platform:

“The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe’s, then Kamala’s Political Opponent, NE, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust.  Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse!”

Trump went on to talk about the “terrorists, criminals, and mentally insane” coming across our border, but again, there is no evidence backing up his claim of where illegal immigrants are coming from.

During an interview with Fox News Digital, Donald Trump blamed Haris and President Biden saying, “their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save this country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country - both from inside and out.”

Trump focused on Kamala Harris’ claim that Donald Trump is a “threat to democracy” as the main reason for the violence that is directed at him.

During our show today, a few Trump followers blamed the media for the hate that leads to violence.  Blaming the media for violence or threats of violence and for the heightened tone of hate in the country has been popular among Trump followers, but is it fair?

Blaming the media or blaming Harris or Biden for the violence directed at  Donald Trump is totally without merit.  It’s absurd.  While there is some talk of a deep, dark conspiracy behind attempts to assassinate Trump, the ONLY people to blame are the individuals who are the suspects.

First of all, political rhetoric is part of every political campaign and Trump, himself, has also claimed that Harris is a threat to democracy and our country will be destroyed if she wins.  How can you claim your opponent’s victory will destroy democracy and then criticize your opponent for claiming YOU will destroy democracy?  Do these politicians know what they are saying?  Obviously, not.

And attempting to blame the media is asinine.  Factual stories about what emanates from the Trump-Vance Campaign cannot be blamed for inciting violence.  If anything, factual reporting of what Trump and Vance say points the finger at Trump and Vance.  If the media fabricated hyped up rhetoric, then maybe a case could be made, but if the media reports the facts then what the candidates are saying is to blame.

The media carries the messages of the candidates.  However, in the cases of small, fringe media outlets - they often create content as only click bait for gullible Americans and they are making big bucks because of the number of Americans who choose to believe ridiculous stories because it confirms what they want to be true.

Illegal immigrants kidnapping and eating family pets is an excellent example of a story that is NOT true, yet some people choose to believe it and then spread it as fact on social media.  There is NO evidence that the LEGAL Haitian immigrants have been stealing and eating family pets, yet Donald Trump and J.D. Vance continue to promote the fallacy as fact.

During an appearance on CNN over the weekend, Vance seemed to admit that he created the story to get the attention of the media.  Since Harris entered the race, the Trump campaign has been desperately trying to win back the media spotlight.  But the idea of immigrants eating pets is an urban legend that goes back decades.

The woman behind the early Facebook post about Haitian immigrants kidnapping and eating pets admitted she had NO firsthand knowledge of any cases and told NBC News that she now regrets posting it.

It’s scary that people continue to post on the Scoot On The Air Facebook page that I’m wrong and immigrants are stealing and eating pets when there is absolutely nothing that supports their claims.

The countless false and damaging comments that Trump has made could easily be considered a source of the hate that has led to two attempts on his life.  It’s interesting that the shooter in the golf course case never had Trump in his line of sight and never took a shot.  But it’s still being investigated as an assassination attempt.  I do not believe either case was a set up by the Trump campaign, but there are interesting questions to be answered.

Candidate Kamala Harris expressing her opinions about what could happen to this country if Trump wins is no different than Trump expressing his views about what he thinks will happen if Harris wins.

And there should be no doubt that Trump’s comments are equally as inviting of violence as anything Harris has said.

As long as we - the people - continue to accept and spread the lies of each side - the lies will continue.  When will we again become a nation of individuals that are strong enough to reject the lies of even the candidate they support?  That’s when we might start to see change.
