A Louisiana appeals court says the state's ban on abortion must be allowed to take effect while a suit seeking to overturn Louisiana's "trigger law" plays out.
The Advocate reports the ruling from a three judge panel on the 1st Circuit Court of Appeal came Friday. The judges ruled in favor of Attorney General Jeff Landry's request for a "suspensive appeal," setting aside a lower court's preliminary injunction.
The plaintiffs, who argue the state has separate anti-abortion laws in conflict with one another and that the exceptions to allow for abortions are unconstitutionally vague, could appeal this ruling to the Louisiana Supreme Court.
