Ochsner Health System is putting a hold on coronavirus vaccinations after it failed to receive vaccines for thousands of patients.
More than 100,000 appointments for vaccinations are already on the books and Ochsner is scrambling to reschedule them.
The healthcare giant received thousands of vaccine doses as part of their mass vaccination program, but didn’t get a delivery last week.
The Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate reports second doses are continuing to come in, but those are already dedicated to patients who got the initial vaccination.
Ochsner will continue to use what it has on hand.
Meanwhile, the Louisiana Department of Health is sending what vaccines it has on hand to Ochsner in an attempt to help them out.
However, that is just fraction of what is needed to keep Ochsner going.
Right now Ochsner has more than 113,000 appointments for vaccinations booked.
