The Baton Rouge Police Department says two men shot dead in a drive-by shooting in front of the Mall of Louisiana Friday afternoon were targeted by for an ambush, and the violence involved "rival groups."
According to The Advocate, police say violent crime is usually concentrated in a nine-square mile area, but incidents like the one Friday are becoming more common.
Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome said violence will not be tolerated.
There were 149 homicides in Baton Rouge in 2021, a record according to The Advocate.
