For the first time, COVID-19 hospitalizations in Louisiana have fallen below 500. The Louisiana Department of Health reports 478 patients hospitalized for COVID-19, down 36 from yesterday's report.
It is not the first time COVID hospitalizations have been below 500, but the last time that it was, it was a year ago and cases and hospitalizations were rapidly on the rise.
The state reports 528 new cases today, on 26,858 new tests -- that's fewer than two percent positive. Total cases are 436,482.
There were 33 more deaths. In all, 9,861 Louisianans have lost their lives to the pandemic.
