You will still be able to hold your phone and drive at the same time on Louisiana roads.

House lawmakers in Baton Rouge defeated a senate-approved measure that would have made it illegal to use a hand-held cell phone while driving.


The vote was 72-21.

Senator Patrick McMath's bill would have made it a secondary offense, meaning that while police could cite drivers for holding their phones and talking on it while driving, they would not be able to pull them over for it, unless officers observed a driver doing that in a school zone.
