COVID-19 hospitalizations in Louisiana fell for the first time in more than a week in today's update from the Louisiana Department of Health. While still an extremely high 3,013, it is nine fewer than yesterday, and is the largest single-day drop since July. However, a net 28 more patients had to go on ventilators, a total of 476, the most since April 2020.
The state reports 5,550 more cases, and 58 more deaths.
Since the coronavirus was first diagnosed in a Louisiana patient in March 2020, there have been 643,993 positive coronavirus tests and 11,851 deaths from COVID-19.
