Hospitalizations in Louisiana for COVID-19 shot up 83 today. At 1,974, it is the highest since April 14, near the peak of the initial case surge.
Total cases are 4,454, on 46,592 tests. The total cases for the pandemic in Louisiana now stand at 326,648.
Another 50 deaths brings the state's total COVID-19 mortality to 7,635.
11,163 people have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The state did report any completed vaccine series today, but health care workers who received the first Pfizer vaccine shot three weeks ago are due to receive their boosters this week. Health officials do not consider an individual to be vaccinated against the coronavirus until they receive their second dose.
