It’s a big day for Louisiana State Police. Thirty-three new troopers graduated from their 103rd cadet class. Captain Nick Manale says the cadets began their journey nearly six months ago.

“And throughout the academy cadets received training in various subjects including crash investigations, and emergency vehicle operations, impaired driving detections, fair and impartial policing, constitutional updates, advance firearm and leadership skills,” said Capt. Manale.

Manale says cadets also completed a physical training regimen. He says the diverse class of new troopers will continue their training with veteran troopers

“The newly graduated troopers will deploy across the state where they will participate in a 10 to 14 week field training program while supervised by a veteran Louisiana State Trooper,” he said.

Manale says there are nearly 900 troopers working in patrol, criminal investigation, and public safety services. But they continue to look for qualified men and women to join the ranks.

“We certainly encourage all of those who are interested to reach out to us, reach out to a recruiter, and get that process started,” said Manale.
