Beginning today, all essential workers in Louisiana will be eligible for the coronavirus vaccine. Governor John Bel Edwards says the list includes grocery store, food service, and postal workers, and a whole lot more.

"Like previous workers who were eligible by virtue of their occupation, they will schedule appointments just like anyone else," said Gov. Edwards.

The governor says a lot of Louisianans were declared eligible in the last expansion.

"Many people in the groups that I just listed are already eligible due to having one or more underlying health conditions," he said.

Gov. Edwards said he's close to opening it up to everyone: "I believe this will be the last expansion of eligibility we're going to make, before we open it up to the general public."

The White House wants everyone eligible by May 1, and the governor said in Louisiana, it will probably happen before then.
