Despite regulations that would seem to rule it out, the Penthouse Club, a Baton Rouge strip club, received a $1.1 million grant from the federal government for pandemic relief, according to a Baton Rouge Business Report accounting published on Wednesday.
Regulations to receive the money state that businesses in question “must not present live performances of a prurient sexual nature” to qualify.

The report states that the Penthouse Club “got more money than the collective total landed by the Manship Theater, Louisiana Symphony Association, Theater Baton Rouge, LASM, Playmakers of Baton Rouge and Opera Louisiane.”
The money came from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program.
