Southest requested that the FAA pause the airline's departures due to an internal technical issue at Southwest. The pause has been fully canceled, according to the FAA.
There are multiple reports of a computer outage that is affecting Southwest Airlines flights, possibly nationwide.
The Dallas-based airline says in a tweet that it is experiencing what it calls an "intermittent technology issue" and hopes to resume operations as soon as possible.
It's not clear if the outage if affecting flights nationwide, and there are no updates yet from the airline. But reports from travelers at airports in Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee have confirmed that some kind of issues are delaying flights.
Southwest requested a pause of departures from the FAA as it works to resolve the issue.
Tweets from Southwest to frustrated passengers who are wondering what is going on say, "As of now, we do not have a time frame for when this will be resolved."
The union that represents Southwest Airlines pilots says there was a firewall failure that has locked-up the nationwide computer system, according to Casey Murray, the President of the Southwest Airlines Piolts Association.
