It takes a lot to be shocked by a crime in New Orleans, but the video of a Lakeview man being shot at by attempted car jackers certainly meets the criteria. Imagine leaving your home, getting in your vehicle, opening your remotely controlled gate and seeing armed thugs approaching your vehicle from either side before shooting at you as you tried to get away.
I spoke with that man to get his account of what happened before, during and after. We respected his request to remain anonymous. His answers surprised me and reminded me that long lasting injuries related to crime need not be physical.
