A tropical wave moving westward through the Caribbean has a 60 percent chance of development over the next five, according to National Hurricane Center forecasters.
The wave is forecast to encounter a frontal system, "producing a broad area of low pressure over the western Caribbean Sea on Friday," said Senior Hurricane Specialist Stacy Stewart. "Environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for some additional development thereafter, and a tropical depression could form over the weekend while the system moves slowly west-northwestward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea."
