Cold temperatures sticking around for another few days

Frigid air continues to make the New Orleans metro area feel like a freezer, and those cold conditions will be sticking around for a few more days.

High temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday will top out in the 40s, with overnight lows dipping into the upper-20s on the Northshore and into the low-30s south of Lake Pontchartrain. Hard freezes are still possible on the Northshore, so residents there should protect their pipes. While pipes problems shouldn't be a concern south of the lake, residents there should protect their pets and plants from the cold temperatures.

Rain pushes into the area late Thursday night into early Friday morning, but those storms and showers should clear out by mid-morning Friday. We'll start to see temperatures rise on Sunday, with highs surpassing 50° early next week.
