"Fake Spring" on tap for Louisiana

The National Weather Service says look for temperatures to be well above normal in the coming couple of weeks.

"Temperatures 10-20 degrees above average," the NWS New Orleans posted for the long range forecast through February 11th.

It is contrary to social media posts over the past week or so warning of more frigid weather and snow over Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans.

"Highs will be in the 70s to near 80F into next week," the weather service said on social media.

Adding, "Well, that was a fun 2 weeks of winter!"

Government forecasters say that February starts unusually warm.

"And just like that 'Fake Spring' is in full swing!"

They note, however, that you might not want to pack away your cold weather clothing yet.

"Don't let the warm up fool you though! We could still see another cold snap in February, but exactly when and how cold is to be determined."
