Flooding rain possible tonight

Rain
National Weather Service

What's left of Tropical Storm Sara could swamp parts of the Gulf Coast tonight.

"Most will see the heaviest rain and strongest storms after midnight," according to WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone. "Make sure to park your car high tonight and have weather alerts turned on before you head to bed."

He forecasts widespread 2-4 inches of rain with isolated 5-8 inches a possibility.

"A few storms could produce gusty winds and even an isolated tornado."

Malone expects it will all clear by Tuesday morning around 9:00am as a cold front pushes through.

"The second, and stronger cold front, arrives Wednesday.  It will turn chilly and windy the second half of the work week with high temperatures only in the low 60s in the afternoons starting Thursday."

Morning lows will be in the low 40s north and low 50s south.
