Frost this morning, rain to end the week

Weather
NWS

Much of the region had a frosty start today.

WWL listeners texted from across the region about frost on their windshields this morning.  People from Metairie to Belle Chasse and Loranger to Lockport.

"Temperatures climb into the low 60s today with increasing clouds," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. "Temperatures return to the 70s by Thursday and that lasts through the weekend."

He says what will grab the weather headlines the next few days will be rain.

"The timing is always a challenge and that's especially true with this setup thanks to a stalling cold front and multiple rounds of rain. Right now, the best chance for rain Thursday will be mainly north of the lake. A few showers and storms could begin to work their way south of the lake by late Thursday and early Friday. That's rounds one. Rounds two looks to develop later Friday and last into Saturday. With all of this we'll need to watch for locally heavy rain and the potential for one or two severe storms with gusty winds or even an isolated tornado. These events are always difficult to forecast all the details, so it's always a good idea to expect changes and check back in on the forecast."

A cold front moves through Monday with a drop in temperatures and humidity for next week.
