This weekend's forecast could be summed up by the title to Glenn Frey's 1985 hit song "The Heat Is On."
Heat indices will approach the 110-degree mark on both Saturday and Sunday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for Southeast Louisiana. Actual air temperatures will top out around 95° through the next week. That combined with high humidity will keep the heat index well into the triple digits for at least the next seven days.
Rain chances remain in the forecast. Probabilities are set around 30 percent through Monday before rising to around 40 percent on Tuesday. After that, we'll see those rain chances decrease to 20 percent or lower. Don't let those figures fool you. Despite low rain chances on Friday, parts of the New Orleans Metro, including downtown New Orleans, saw heavy downpours early Friday afternoon.
