Heavy rains cause street flooding in New Orleans area

Flood Warning

The National Weather Service Sunday issued a Flash Flood Warning until 7:15pm.

"Heavy rain could cause street flooding in low-lying areas," NOLA Ready said in an alert. "Neutral ground parking allowed until 8am Monday."


The Flash Flood Warning is for Jefferson Parish, Orleans Parish, St. Bernard Parish and St. Charles Parish.

"Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area," forecasters said. "The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 3 inches in 45 minutes."

The Weather Service said that flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
