The National Weather Service this morning issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southwestern Tangipahoa Parish.
A stubborn storm cell set up over the Hammond area and just kept raining.
"Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen," the NWS advised just after 5:30am. "Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area."
Some locations experiencing flash flooding included Hammond, Ponchatoula and Natalbany.
The Weather Service said the heaviest of the rain was impacting parts of the interstate system:
-Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 27 and 35.
-Interstate 12 between mile markers 35 and 41.
