Hot, humid weather soon to replace downpours in forecast

Sunrise
Ian Auzenne/WWL

The heavy downpours we've seen over the last week or so will finally come to an end over the next few days.

Changes in upper level atmospheric conditions will change our weather patter from wet and cooler to hotter and more humid. Temperatures this week will get into the mid-90s, with heat indices surpassing the 100-degree mark. The good news is that overnight lows will dip into the 70s, with the Northshore seeing low temperatures as low as 75 later in the week.

Meanwhile in the tropics, the National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a system in the Caribbean that has a low chance of developing into a tropical system. Immediately, though, there are no concerns, with any development of this system happening beyond seven days from now.
