Hottest day ever in New Orleans

Wednesday we saw, and felt, the hottest temperature ever recorded for the official high temperature at the airport... tying the record.

"We’ve done it," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone posted. "New Orleans International has hit 102°. This ties the all-time record high of 102 hit back on 8/22/1980. This also makes 13 days at or above 100° this year. Most years we have zero 100° days!"

Malone told WWL First News that we won't get quite that hot today.

"I have us up to 99... a few thunderstorms, I think, will pop up."

He says, however, we get back to the triple digits for the weekend.
