The National Hurricane Center is watching an area of low pressure off the Florida panhandle.
It is the first tropical disturbance of the Atlantic hurricane season.
"This system is expected to move northeastward across Florida during the next day or so and offshore of the U.S. Southeast coast later this week," said forecasters.
The hurricane center gives the system a low chance of development, and any strengthening that does occur is likely to happen after it moves out of the Gulf of Mexico and into the Atlantic ocean off the southeastern United States.
