The New Orleans area will be roasting this weekend.

WWL-TV meteorologist Brooke Laizer says forecasters are urging caution for people spending time outdoors.

"Heat and humidity will be the themes all weekend," Brooke says. "We have very little rain chances and that will mean a heat advisory is issued until 6 p.m. on Saturday."

Daytime temperatures will peak in the mid 90s in mid-to-late afternoon, with heat indices in the 100s.

There is an area of low pressure in the gulf with a potential for development, but the National Hurricane Center says development is unlikely over the next seven days as it moves slowly toward the Florida panhandle.

"We'll be watching this system as Tuesday approaches, but I think our biggest impact will be a very small chance of rain," Brooke said.
